New Retail Summit 2020: Preparations of new top-to-top event just kicked-off

Slovak retail and consumer markets are undergoing dynamic changes. Definitively something deserving a relevant attention and professional discussion. The right moment to launch the Summit of all people actively participating in the creation of new retail. The strong reason for Blue Events and co-operating partners to organize the new top-to-top event, labelled New Retail Summit 2020, on 4th March 2020 at DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Bratislava.

Slovak retail and consumer markets are undergoing dynamic changes. Some are conditioned by global trends, some have a specific national character. The new market structure is emerging, full of new, mostly internet based distribution /communication channels and consumer touchpoints. Innovative technologies drive all changes of key processes. Retail industry is thus experiencing a massive digital transformation.

New omnichannel, an inter-connected form of retail trade is recently getting the simple and understandable label: „New Retail“.

Launch of new Summit: why and how?

The new phase of market development deserves an increased attention as it brings many risks and also interesting opportunities. Having this on mind, Blue Events supported by key Slovak market players decided to launch a new annual Summit, serving as The Platform to discuss demand, supply and technology trends and learn from case studies of industry and company successes.

The Summit is targeted on everybody trusting „new retail“ is the growth opportunity for doing business in Slovakia. So we expect participation of managers from retail companies and (goods, services and technology) suppliers. We believe already the first year of the event will attract all types of Slovak market players – operators of both large and small store formats, leading e-Commerce companies and their business partners – suppliers and experts. We expect participation of about 250 owners, managers and specialists actively engaging with retail and consumer markets in Slovakia.

The Summit is prepared in close cooperation with both local and international experts and key market players representing retailers and suppliers of branded goods and technology solutions.

Future and innovations oriented program

The opening session of New Retail Summit 2020 will deal with perspectives of Slovak retail in the global trends context. Focus will be given to demand development of Slovak consumers and to technology as the change enabler and driver. The second program block dedicated to New Retail will be probably the most important part of the Summit. Key note by Toby Pickard, Head of Insight - Innovation & Futures at IGD (Institute of Grocery Distribution London) will look into the future of connected retail trade. Top-to-top discussion panel of leading Slovak retailers and suppliers will then tackle the national development trends, Slovak market can expect.

Following the morning theoretical discussions, the afternoon program will focus on very practical examples of implementation of new approaches and technologies. Case studies from companies showing the direction will do their best to inspire participants how to succeed in the new market conditions. Apart from presentations in the main congress hall, Summit will offer also the possibility to see “live” solutions for new retail, brought by commercial partners. The largest exhibition, showing the Store of the Future and its capabilities to understand customers and service them better, will be prepared by Microsoft.

New Retail Summit 2020 will be crowned by the Gala Evening connected with Mastercard Obchodník roka/Slovak Retailer of the Year award ceremony.

Professional and social program of the Summit are being prepared with the ambition to deliver not just information on trends but also to inspire and bring new ideas for future business development. On top of that, we do hope that the representative audience will allow open dialogue and discussion between key market players, so useful for the further cultivation of Slovak retail and consumer markets.

Information about speakers and further program details will be gradually published at the Summit website (www.newretailsummit.sk) and in New Retail Summit Newsletter prepared (just in Slovak) in cooperation with media partners from www.retailmagazin.sk.
